Our client is working his way through restoring and refurbishing the buildings on his property. Having converted his barn (https://www.johnstoncave.com/project/detail/2555.html) into a wonderful library, it was time to look at the guest cottage.

Of immediate concern was the upper gable end of a lean-to wall which required partial removal and then reconstruction.

But as so often with problems, come opportunities. This was an opportunity to extend the wall to create a playroom and add a porch to form a rain-free link to the neighbouring outbuildings.

We also created new internal doorways to make for a better use of space and flow.

Other details were proper cellar access, new garden opening and door, tidying up of garden steps, refurbished kitchen and bathrooms, a refurbished staircase with new ballustrade and additional windows and cupboards.

The result is a charming and comfortable guest cottage finished well in time for Christmas.
